This Dual Language Education Institute will highlight strategies that promote biliteracy and oral language development.
- Day 1 consists of optional Full-day Intensive Institutes for new and experienced biliteracy teachers, and new administrators in dual language, interested in learning more about effective biliteracy strategies.
Pre-registration for the Full-day Intensive Institutes is required and has an additional cost. See details and descriptions below.
- Days 2 – 4 consist of keynote speakers and self-selected 2-hour and 15-minute institutes on a variety of high interest dual language topics
CABE's MEDLI will highlight strategies to support biliteracy and multiliteracy instruction in a variety of educational and linguistc settings. Topics will address topics of interest for multilingual educators serving in early childhood programs, elementary and secondary programs, IHE's developing multilingual teacher preparation programs, Spanish dual language programs and Asian languages biliteracy programs. Day one will consist of optional full-day intensive institutes and days two through four will consist of keynote speakers, and self-selected 2-hour and 15-minute institutes on effective biliteracy strategies.

- A Focus Strand on Asian Languages Dual Language Programs (Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, etc.)
- A Focus Strand on Spanish Dual Language Instruction
- Hands-on Strategies for Biliteracy Instruction
- Sessions on Translanguaging and Cross-linguistic Transfer
- Effective and Comprehensive Literacy and Biliteracy Instructional Practices
- Guidance on Establishing New Dual Language Programs
- How to Refine a Dual Language Program
- A Variety of Additional Multiliteracy and Biliteracy Topics!
- Optional University Extension Credits
- Sessions for Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, and Higher Education Biliteracy Programs
