Led by CABE experts, participants will collaborate with colleagues, explore innovative practices from schools across California, and gain practical tools grounded in the California ELA/ELD Framework, English Learner Roadmap, and other key California state guidance.

INSTITUTE # 1

Designated ELD in Dual Language Classrooms: Essential Practices for Biliteracy Development

  • Strengthen Designated ELD practices specifically for Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs.
  • Explore key considerations for language allocation, cross-linguistic connections, and biliteracy development.
  • Experience a model Designated ELD lesson and examine effective planning practices for dual language settings.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to develop practical tools, resources, and actionable implementation plans.

Audience: Dual Language Immersion Teachers,  Instructional Coaches, Administrators, and Educators who support multilingual learners in dual language programs.

INSTITUTE #2

Integrated ELD Practices for Content Instruction: Supporting Language Development Through Meaningful Content Learning

  • Integrated ELD — Learn how to intentionally embed language development into daily content instruction across grade levels and subject areas.
  • Identify the language demands of rigorous content learning and design lessons that promote both language growth and academic achievement.
  • Experience high-impact Integrated ELD strategies through model lessons and classroom-ready examples.
  • Leave with practical tools, planning resources, and actionable strategies to create language-rich learning environments for multilingual learners.

     

Audience: TK–12 Teachers, Multilingual Learner Specialists, Instructional Coaches, Curriculum Leaders, and Site and District Administrators who support all typologies of multilingual English learners.

SEEDS of Transformation: Cultivating Meaningful Family and Community Partnerships

  • Co-create strong family-school-community partnerships grounded in trust, shared leadership, and mutual respect.
  • Recognize and leverage the strengths, expertise, and lived experiences of families and community members as assets for student success.
  • Elevate parent, caregiver, student, and community voice to strengthen decision-making and create more responsive school communities.
  • Develop practical tools and strategies grounded in the California Community Schools framework and aligned with the California English Learner Roadmap 

Audience: Administrators, Community School Coordinators, Community School Council Members, Family and Engagement Liaisons, Teachers, Instructional Coaches.
