The CABE Summer Spanish Dual Language Immersion Institute is aligned to the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education, 3rd Edition, and includes:
- 3 days of dynamic learning and networking
- Opening reception on July 1
- Teacher strands presented in Spanish
- Institute materials
- Daily dedicated collaboration time
- Continental breakfast and lunch July 2-3
- Elementary and secondary focus
- Job-alike groups each day
Six customized strands were offered at the DLI Institute to develop high quality multilingual/multicultural,
equity-based programs:

STRAND #1: Elementary teachers and Instructional Coaches New to Spanish DLI
- Learn critical research, theory, and research-based pedagogy necessary to become or support strong, successful elementary DLI teachers and coaches
- Enhance your academic Spanish (strand will be conducted in Spanish) for powerful instruction
- Develop engaging teaching strategies
- Become a part of a network of DLI teachers and coaches
STRAND #2: Elementary Administrators New to Spanish DLI
- Learn critical research, and research-based pedagogy necessary to become strong, successful elementary DLI administrators
- Focus on leadership skills to start an effective DLI program
- Network and collaborate with other DLI leaders
STRAND #3: Experienced Elementary Spanish DLI Teachers and Instructional Coaches
- Learn research-based best practices for Spanish DLI programs and classrooms
- Enhance your academic Spanish (strand will be conducted in Spanish) to impact high quality instruction
- Reflect upon the alignment of your role and program to the Guiding Principles
- Develop action plans to strengthen your pedagogical/coaching practice and elementary DLI program
- Become a part of a network of DLI teachers and coaches
